Gaming Shenanigans Vol. 2: Return of the Revenge

Welcome back to the second installment of Gaming Shenanigans here on The Mog Blog! Are we still called that? Hmm…

Anyway, I kind of goofed last time I posted one of these. This is supposed to be a near daily thing we’re doing. That didn’t happen, and I apologize for that. In fact, everything in general stopped for a bit due to some personal situations that happened unfortunately in both my life and MogKnight’s. It was totally unrelated but happened simultaneously. Regardless, we’re back on track now.

I’m still playing Animal Crossing: New Leaf on the 3DS. Again, if you liked the previous ones at all, you will probably appreciate this one. In the month I’ve played I’ve managed to strike it rich in the “stalk market” by buying turnips at a low price and selling them high. I maxed out my house and spent money on various projects around the town.

When Animal Crossing goes horribly, horribly wrong.

Things got a little boring after all of that so I decided to make an “evil” character who wears a hockey mask and a blood spattered shirt who lives in a run down shack that kind of looks like it could be a meth lab. I took some inspiration from some towns you can visit using the Dream Suite, which lets you visit towns that people uploaded. You can’t do anything in these towns but look since the owner of the town isn’t going to be online. Some of them can be a bit unsettling, which was amusing for an Animal Crossing game.

Aside from that, I had been playing the closed beta of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, which concluded a week ago. I enjoyed it a lot, more than I expected. I’ve never gotten into too many MMORPGs. I played EverQuest for about a week when it came out back in 1999 and later Final Fantasy XI for a length of time that I’ve apparently blocked from my memory. That’s about it. I’m certainly going to get the final release, but I don’t know how long I’ll keep subscribed to it. Though the last time I said that, I ended up subscribed for a few years so who knows.

Behold, the power of an all Lalafell party!

About an hour before the servers went down and our characters were wiped from existence, my friends and I decided we’d see how far out we could run and still manage to take down mobs. We fought some level 47 Magitek Vanguards that we probably shouldn’t have been able to beat. We did, and about died laughing when we pulled a second one only to wipe from some peon that was walking around. It was good times. I really suggest checking out the open beta when it comes around.

That’s about it for now. As I said, we plan on keeping this column going on a daily, or at least as close to daily as possible. Everything else will continue as planned as well, so expect some reviews and more Blowing Dust soon. See you tomorrow!
