Wii U Get! And Other Updates

So we finally got a Wii U a few days ago, which has been something we have been waiting to get a good deal on for awhile since my Wife and I are not really the type to buy new systems when they first come out. I had first played the Wii U at my friend Adam’s place and really enjoyed what I saw from it. I also really enjoy the bright colorful first party Nintendo games and experiencing them in HD for the firt time. Out of the choices of Next-Generation hardware available right now: PS4, Xbox One, PS Vita, and Wii U, my wife and I decided that both of our interests in gaming are more in tune to what is offered on the Wii U, than any other systems right now.

The way I see it, the PS4 and Xbox One, while being great systems featuring the latest and greatest in graphical achievement, are just too expensive to invest in when I only have a handful of games I’m interested in for each system. For PS4 I think I have interested in Uncharted 4 and Bloodbourne, for Xbox One, I only have interest in Crimson Dragon and Phantom Dust, both games are developed by Yukio Futatsugi, who is the author of my favorite gaming series of all time, Panzer Dragoon. And for PS Vita, I think I have a total of 3 games throughout the entire current library of the system that interest me, Ys Celceta, Gravity Rush and Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

After seeing Nintendo’s 2014 Digital Event Press Release, there were so many titles on the horizon that I was excited over. The infamous internet meme below should sum up my feelings pretty well.

When you can name 10 or more games I’m interested in having all at one time for a console, it’s time to get the console. : )

For me I wanted: New Super Mario Bros. Wii U, New Super Luigi Bros, Wii U, Super Mario 3D World, Game & Wario, Nintendo Land, ZombiiU from the older released games and Mario Kart 8, Yoshi’s Woolly World, Super Smash Bros, Hyrule Warriors, the new Zelda (which looks amazing!) Splatoon!, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and even that Toad Explorer game looked fun to try. And of course the NES Remix games, (If I can get a deal on them sometime) Little Inferno, and Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse having a version for Wii U.

I do realize that out of that list, most of those titles mentioned are 1st party Nintendo games, but that’s certainly not a bad thing, especially for Nintendo. I’ve been told before that Nintendo is simply rehashing the same games and game franchises over and over again. Well, maybe so, but so are many other series I think, especially FPS games, so it’s kind of a mute point when Nintendo fans really want to get their hands on the next rehashed release of their favorite series. If the game is good, then it will be desirable. If the game is great, it will stand the test of time for the ages regardless of whether it was part of an existing series.

If I had a nickel for every time Ys I & II have been released again and again for me to enjoy playing… I’d uh, almost have a dollar!

In other news, I’ve finished my first run of Dark Souls II and soon I may start New Game+ on it to continue my Platinum trophy progress and get ready for the first set of DLC content.

Also, Shovel Knight was released! Currently playing it on Steam. It’s been fantastic so far and it’s true that it really is a love letter to NES fans.
